Virtual reality is the creation of a simulated environment using computer technology.  The computer uses similar sensors however they don’t locate real camera within a physical environment. The current standards of this system use either virtual reality headsets or multi projected environments to generate realistic sounds, images or other sensations that stimulates user’s physical presence in a virtual environment.  Their handsets displays are based on technology developed for smartphones. Controllers in the virtual reality world are typically using optical tracking systems for location and navigation such that a user can now move freely without wiring.

Health and safeties associated with virtual reality

Prolonged use of virtual reality recently is causing unwanted symptoms. These effects are slowing proliferation of technology to this system. Most of them are directed to consumer warnings like developmental issues in children, discomforts, repetitive stress injury, interference with medical devices and others.  Some may even experience blackouts while using virtual reality headsets. Major effect to such victims is they are quickly loosing awareness of their real world surroundings and may injure themselves by tripping over or colliding with real world objects.

The effects caused by virtual reality have extended in the recent days which are regularly causing eye fatigue. It’s an extended danger from all screened technology since people blink less thus eyes becoming more dried out.Overall motion sickness is caused by a disconnection between what is being seen and what the rest of the body perceives.

Methods in which virtual reality may be realized

  1. Stimulation based virtual reality- it’s done automatically where an impression of actual action is given and a corresponding feedback is seen.
  2. Avatar image-based virtual reality– technology has pushed people to join the virtual environment in the form of real video as well as an avatar. This is making users select own type of participation based on system’s capability
  3. Projector-based virtual reality– through advanced technology real environment has been modelled. This is playing an important role in various virtual reality applications.  Such applications affected include construction modeling, navigation of robots as well as stimulation of airplanes.
  4. Desktop-based virtual reality– this displays virtual world within a regular desktop display with no use of specialized positional tracking equipment. However many users criticize it that there is no sense of peripheral vision which limits users ability to know what is happening around them.

A virtual reality headset has two resolution monitors which provide separate images. There is this type of virtual reality known as augmented reality. It usually blends what the user sees in their real surroundings by certain computer software through generation of digital content. This additional software – generated images typically enhances how the real surroundings look like. Another one is mixed reality which has its technologies of merging the real worlds. It is producing new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects interact in real time. There is also stimulated reality which is hypothetical and truly immersive as actual reality. Mostly it is produced using a brain –computer interface and quantum computing. It’s an advanced technology enabling lifelike experience as well as virtual eternity.

However more sensations and technologies are to be released in the near future to make a very reliable and an advanced technology of all with reduced negatives.
